Ranger layoffs expected to be temporary
Posted on 14 November 2008
Ranger Boats in Flippin, Ark. laid off 130 employees and extended its normal two-week plant closing to four weeks in December because of a drop in orders from dealers, The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.
The layoffs represent about 17 percent of the fiberglass boat maker’s 750 employees, the company said in media reports.
A company official also said the layoffs were considered temporary because
Ranger anticipates recalling the workers in January, according to reports.
A call to Ranger this morning was not immediately returned. Ranger is owned by
Genmar Holdings.
