Longtime N.C. dealership closes shop

A North Carolina boat dealership, which was in business 40 years, recently closed its doors.

Crocker's Marine, a Grady-White and Parker dealership, "closed permanently" Oct. 29, according to a message on the company's answering machine.

Neighboring dealer Joel Romig, of SaltWater Marine, said he knew business would be slowing down, but he didn't think it would be like this.

"Boat sales are obviously off right now, with the current state of the economy, but service has been strong, so we have been holding our own with service," Romig told WECT-TV.

Crocker's Marine is closing both Wilmington locations and its Morehead Marine in Morehead City.

DOZENS upon DOZENS of dealerships have closed.   Many are larger volume dealers than Crocker's.

DAVE BOSO, good point.  Depending on the version of the healthcare bill that the senate passes, I too definitely see a supreme court battle.  If it happened today, It would be shot down by the justices.  But by the time it makes it there, we could see a righty having been replaced by a lefty, in which case, it would be upheld.

These are interesting times.  Just remember people...

I think that G.E. might just be the bank that would not work with Genmar.

Funny, I was reading Dave's comments about the great annointed one and I have the TV on in my office.....  The great annointed one just came on TV saying how he gave tax cuts to 95% of working families and how much he has done to get this economy moving and manufacturing moving again.

I don't think he has stepped out of our Airforce ONE long enough to see what is really going on out here in the real world.

Those of us out here in the real world know what has to be done to turn things around and none of that is happening.

The liquidators are all still patting themselves on the backs because they made some money over the past few months while driving down the prices of new and used inventory boats.  The consumers are upset because their trades aren't worth anything.

Sadly, the annointed one and the liquidators great performance was at the expense of many hard working dealerships who provided the service and sales over the years.  We just lost another fantastic dealer in NC and I  know many, along with my dealership, who are on the brink.

Well, the annointed one said he saved us from the brink..... What the hell is he talking about?

God help us.........

Tell you what, this ecomony thing has destroyed so much wealth in this country it's pittiful. And it's not just the housing market, and banks. It's the new rules that this administration is dabbling in, it has everybody scared, they are all holding on to their cash and not making any future plans.

What's gonna happen is this; all this new Obama stuff is goning to be brought to the Supream Court sometime in the future and declared to be unconstitutional, and then the sueing will begin. All of FDR's reforms were found to be the same, but there were not the number of attorneys then as there is now, and they are going after someone for these losses, it will take ten years or more but there will be a recokning and it will include the people responsible.
