METS organizers report steady attendance

Organizers of the Marine Equipment Trade Show, which was held this week in Amsterdam, Netherlands, said the number of attendees was on par with last year.

This year, 18,454 people visited METS and the SuperYacht Pavilion, compared with 18,485 in 2008. There were more exhibitors this year, however, with 1,261 companies at the show, compared to 1,210 in 2008.

"It has been a difficult year for many in our industry but we've had a bustling show nonetheless" senior product manager Irene Dros said in a statement. "The mood has been amazingly upbeat and the industry turnout - in terms of visitors and increased exhibitor numbers - translates as a tremendous show of confidence for METS and the SuperYacht Pavilion."

The 2010 show is set for Nov. 16-18.

METS, the world's largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine leisure industry, is organized by Amsterdam RAI in association with the International Council of Marine Industry Associations.

From our prospective in the American Pavilion, we worked steadily with prospects most of the three days.  The buying interest seemed strong helped no doubt by a dollar that is down nearly 20% from last year, but the truth will be known over the coming weeks.  The proformas will go out, but will the wires come in?

It would be good to see how they get these firgures since if you went from Hall 1 to Hall 11 five times in the day your badge got scanned 10 times going in and out of the different sections. The show did not seem to be as busy as the figures suggest.
