NMMA cancels 2010 Liberty Boat Show

The Liberty Boat Show will not take place this year because of the economic climate, the National Marine Manufacturers Association said.

The show had been set for April 29-May 2 at Liberty State Park Landing Marina in New Jersey.

The NMMA purchased the show in May 2008, but did not hold the show that year because of the poor economy. At the time, the association said it would run the show in October 2009, but again put the event on hold because of marketplace conditions.

The Liberty Boat Show had been in place for about six years before being acquired by the NMMA.

This must be part of the execution of their plan to reduce annual number of boat shows from 300 nation-wide to 30.

Hold the show and see how it goes. If things are really as bad as most of think they are then skip the show next year.e keep hearing and reading in the insustry publications that everythins is wonderful, that the sales have turned the corner, and what turns out to be a lot of other lies. Not holding the boat show because of the economy will not help to restart things-just delaying any comeback.
