Resort offers a houseboat getaway

Jones Valley Resort, a member of houseboats.com, is offering a vacation giveaway to one family.

Jones Valley Resort is giving away a seven-night luxury houseboat vacation valued at $16,000 aboard the 65-foot Titan, the largest houseboat rental vessel in the country.

"We wanted a way to ease the tension and promote family togetherness during these trying financial times," said Mike Han, COO of houseboats.com, in a statement.

Applicants must submit a 300-word-or-less essay stating why they or someone they know deserves this vacation. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2010 and the winner will be announced by May 15.

Personally, I would much rather see this company giving away something like 4 (four) $4,000 vacations on smaller boats to four families of veterans disabled in the Iraq/ Afghanistan wars. With the economy in the tank and unemployment at all time highs, who needs a $16,000 vacation. Use these ad dollars to do some good.
