Steyr Motors warns of Gulf oil engine fallout

Steyr Motors is urging owners of its diesel marine engines to use extra caution when operating in waters affected by the Gulf oil spill.

"Steyr Motors realizes that operation in these waters may not or cannot be avoided. As Steyr Motors is known for its robust monoblock design and efficient cooling system, Steyr Motors recommends all Steyr marine diesel engines to be equipped with the new and efficient Steyrflush system," the company said in a statement.

The company also recommends inspection or replacement of the raw-water pump impeller, all raw-water rubber hoses and seal rings every 50 operating hours.
