Sea Ray cuts jobs at Tennessee plant

Sea Ray Boats laid off 18 workers at a plant in Forks of the River Industrial Park in East Knox County, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development said Tuesday.

The layoffs were effective July 15, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Brunswick has in recent years reduced its Knoxville-area Sea Ray work force and cut production as part of a corporate-wide restructuring.

In May, the company put Sea Ray's Riverview Plant in Forks of the River up for sale. In January 2009, Brunswick mothballed the Riverview Plant in the face of declining boat sales, laying off 300 workers.
