Caterpillar reports drop in marine-engine sales

Caterpillar reported a decline in marine engine sales in July, saying they dropped 34 percent from the same month last year.

Sales were up in all other segments for which the company supplies engines, according to a report recently filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Caterpillar also had reported a drop in sales in May and June, compared with those same months in 2009.
