Marine engine sales fall slightly at Caterpillar in July

Caterpillar reported a slowing rate of decline in marine engine sales in July, according to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Marine engine sales were down 1 percent last month, compared with July 2010. In May and June, engine sales declined 27 percent and 21 percent, respectively, compared with the same months last year.

Engine sales were up in all other sectors Caterpillar serves, the company reported.
