R.I. trade group offers training funds

Members — or those planning to become members — of the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association that have a business in the state could be eligible for industry skills training reimbursements.

Applications for the funds are available through the trade association with a deadline of Nov. 1.

Funds for the training have been provided by the Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Board. A 50 percent cost match is required from the employer and a maximum $2,000 grant is available for each award (covering $4,000 in training for the total number of employees enrolled).

Training must be connected to a wage increase, a certification and/or a promotion and be conducted between November and June.
