IMBC unveils new seminars for 2013 event

The International Marina & Boatyard Conference is changing things up to better meet audience needs.

The conference, which is produced by the Association of Marina Industries, will offer three breakout tracks geared specifically toward coastal marinas, inland marinas and boatyards, with one afternoon dedicated to interactive workshops. The IMBC is scheduled for Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2013, in Fort Lauderdale.

“As IMBC grows, our seminar tracks have become very popular and, as such, they are highly attended,” AMI president Jim Frye said in a statement. “To address a growing need for smaller, more interactive experiences, we also created workshops to bring us back to the nuts and bolts of marina and boatyard management and operation.”

Topics for the limited-audience workshops will include one-on-one contract reviews, easy steps toward creating a mobile video and the impact of trends in the marina industry.

“A majority of IMBC’s participants have requested we offer tracks that speak to their daily operations, and we listened,” Frye added. “We created these specific tracks to complement the general sessions that will be offered throughout the three days of the conference.”

Potential topics for the specific breakout sessions include navigating coastal land leases, electrical safety at lake marinas and the technological future of the boatyard industry.
