SNAME sets technical program for annual meeting

The technical program for the Society of Naval Architects and Engineers' Annual Meeting and Expo, set to take place Oct. 22-26 in Providence, R.I., features more than 40 hours of technical paper presentations, a ship production symposium, technical research sessions and ship operations programs.

Early registration, which is available until Sept. 15, can earn attendees as much as $200 in discounts, according to organizers.

Peer-reviewed papers will address significant recent developments in several branches of naval architecture and marine engineering, including new international regulations, energy efficiency and alternative fuels.

The Ship Production Symposium, hosted by the National Shipbuilding Research Program and SNAME, will include technical papers addressing problems involving shipyard techniques and the production of merchant and naval ships.

The Ship Operations Cooperative Program fall 2012 meeting will focus on the effects of regulatory changes in safety, environment and training in the U.S. maritime industry.
