Sea Tow Services International announced that the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., is now a Sea Tow Automated Radio Check host station.
Boaters in the Sturgeon Bay Shipping Canal, five miles west out into the waters of Green Bay and five miles or more east out into the waters of Lake Michigan can take advantage of the boating safety service free by calling channel 28 on their VHF radio, according to a statement.
The service, provided in association with MariTel, lets boaters check to see that their vessel’s VHF radio is in good working order. The service also aids the Coast Guard by reducing non-emergency communications on VHF channel 16, freeing the channel for distress call activity.
