Industry descends on Louisville for IBEX

ibex1001Louisville International Airport is bustling this morning as marine industry members from around the country and the world stream into the Kentucky city for the 21st annual International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference.

IBEX opens Tuesday at the Kentucky Exposition Center and runs through Thursday. The event starts with an industry awards breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Industry experts will conduct more than 90 technical and business seminars, including several moderated by Trade Only editor-in-chief William Sisson, publisher Dean Waite and associate editor Reagan Haynes. Sixteen exhibitor workshops on a range of subjects also will be conducted.

More than 500 OEM and aftermarket suppliers, including Mercury Marine, Dometic and Taco Metals, will showcase new products.

The National Marine Representatives Association is hosting free "Ask A Rep" sessions for component or accessory manufacturers new to the industry or for those who wish to learn about the value of reps in the sales chain.

Anne Dunbar is the new director of the show. A new smart-phone mobile app, created to make it easier to navigate the expansive exhibit halls and offer complete information about IBEX 2012, is available for download.

The "IBEX Bourbon Experience" All Industry Exhibit Hall Party will be held from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday with bourbon samples from several local distilleries available for 50 cents each.

The Weather Channel’s forecast for Louisville calls for showers and temperatures in the low 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday, but sunshine and 81 degrees on Thursday.

This article was updated to reflect the correct date and time for the All Industry Exhibit Hall Party.

Date Correction: The "IBEX Bourbon Experience" All-Industry Party is being held on Wednesday, October 3rd, from 5:00 p.m -6:00 p.m. which is the second day of the show, NOT the last day of the show. The party is being held in the aisles of the exhibit halls, and should be great. I hope you can all make it!
