Whale Water Systems buys California company

Vermont-based Whale Water Systems said it completed a deal to take over the production, distribution and servicing of the complete line of Seaward Products, including the Princess brand.

The agreement was completed just before the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference opened in Louisville, Ky. The new brand — Seaward by Whale — will officially launch at the show, which starts today.

Whale provides freshwater, bilge and gray waste management systems and is adding the Seaward range of water heaters, ovens, cooktops, barbecues, electrical panels, tanks and accessories. California-based Seaward has been making appliances for marine, RV and compact kitchen needs for more than 30 years.

“Our acquisition of Seaward gives Whale a very healthy, comprehensive product portfolio,” Whale Water Systems vice president of sales and marketing Keith Nixon said in a statement. “Seaward Products has built a very strong reputation for quality and like Whale they know how to manufacture products designed to withstand the marine market.”

Whale said it plans to continue making Seaward’s products in California, retaining the experience of company employees, and will look to add products during the next few years.
