Captain’s workshop set for Connecticut

A free boating workshop in Stamford, Conn., titled "Etiquette, Protocol, Respect, and Courtesy: Your Roles and Responsibility as Skipper" will address safe navigation and best practices with three experienced captains.

The workshop, sponsored by Atlantic Yacht Delivery LLC and West Marine, will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Oct. 20 at West Marine.

“Directly or indirectly, your management style helps establish how well and how safely your yacht is managed and whether you and your boat reflect the best of maritime traditions,” an Atlantic Yacht Delivery statement said. “In this discussion, three experienced and professional Stamford captains — Eric Knott, Mike Taylor and Bernie Weiss — review some principles and practical applications of your responsibility as captain and how you can enhance safe boating and fun boating for your guests and crew. Bottom line: You don’t have to be a professional captain to act like one.”
