Statement Marine boat appears in new movie

A high-performance powerboat built by St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Statement Marine will appear in the coming film “Pain & Gain.”

A Statement 42-foot “Ultimate” vee-bottom high-performance boat, powered by twin Mercury Racing 1,100-horsepower engines and boasting an eye-popping orange-and-green metallic paint scheme, was selected by director Michael Bay for use in the film. Filming took place last year on Miami’s Biscayne Bay.

The “Pain & Gain” movie trailer launched in December and included shots of the Statement boat in action. The boat used in the filming is on display at the Miami International Boat Show at Statement's booth, No. C-58, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“We were initially contacted by the production company and began discussing available boats from the Statement high-performance line,” Statement marketing director Josh Stickles said in a release.

“When I saw this exotic performance machine I thought it would be the perfect luxury item for one of the characters in ‘Pain & Gain,’ ” Bay said in a statement. “Everyone at Statement really helped us out.”

"Pain & Gain," which Paramount Pictures will release April 26, is an action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. The film is based on the true story of a group of personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong.

Oh! Cool! When will be the showing of this film? This made me curious on what this boat really looks like.
