Bill introduced to bar sales of E15

Two U.S. senators have introduced legislation that seeks to block the sale of E15.

Sens. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and David Vitter (R-La.) introduced legislation last week to block an increase in the amount of ethanol that can be blended with gasoline, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

The bill would overturn Environmental Protection Agency waivers that allowed sales of gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol, or E15.

The higher blend of ethanol has been found to cause engine damage, reduce fuel efficiency and contribute to higher corn prices and rising food costs for American consumers.

The NMMA has long been opposed to the introduction of E15 into the marketplace. The results of research have continued to show the devastating effects that E15 can have on marine engines.

Most recently, the NMMA's action on the issue culminated in a Hill briefing to educate policymakers and their staff about the negative effects of the Renewable Fuel Standard and E15.The briefing brought together more than 70 House members or staff members and more than 50 members of the Senate and their staff.

We do have a choice. There are pure-fuel stations in most states that sell E-0 gasoline.

Good for these two...Only wish the Republican's had a majority in the US Senate.

Boat US Fl lobbyist tells me she has a bill introduced in the Fl State legislature to ban E-10...Doubt it will pass but still good for her to have it to make a point for boaters, old car buffs and small engine owners.

Better yet, as consumers, give us a choice at the pumps of buying non ethanol fuels and see what happens. Let the free market dictate and not the government.

The Government is taxing the Boaters by causing us to pay more for our fuel.....NO Ethanol fuel $4.89 Reg E-10 $3.89.

I like to boat but my boat is for sale now. A 28 gal tank is $28.00 MORE!

It is insane to think we should turn a major food source into a damaging fuel when it is absolutely unnecessary. The fuel economy issue alone should open every ones eyes to how we are being misled.
