DeLorme wins satellite association award

The Mobile Satellite Users Association announced the winners of its 2013 awards, with the Innovation Award given to DeLorme for its inReach Two-Way Satellite Communication solution, providing affordable two-way satellite messaging anywhere in the world.

The 2013 MSUA Pioneer Award was made to Andrew Fuller, deputy director of the International Mobile Satellite Organization, for his work in developing satellite-based maritime distress and safety services. The MSUA-10 Conference is being held in conjunction with the Satellite 2013 Conference and Exhibition, the premier event providing solutions to the satellite end-user community, and includes a luncheon on March 19, at which the awards will be presented.

MSUA-10 and Satellite 2013 will be held from March 18-21 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

“With the introduction of inReach to the market, DeLorme has created a new category in mobile satellite communications,” DeLorme CEO Michael Heffron said in a statement. “InReach overcomes the inherent limitations of simplex satellite data services by providing reliable safety and communication service via two-way text messaging, SOS alerting and GPS tracking anywhere in the world, leveraging Iridium’s global coverage and robust low-latency short-burst data service.”

The 10th international Mobile Satellite Users Conference and Exhibition, MSUA-10, provides a unique opportunity for users and providers of mobile satellite communications.
