The Association of Marina Industries coordinates National Marina Day as an annual celebration to highlight the important role marinas play in waterfront communities across America.
Each year the National Marina Day Committee chair chooses a marina to be the symbol of what the AMI is trying to achieve.
Lazy Days is one of many marinas located on Lake Lanier, which last year was plagued by severe drought conditions, causing a loss in boating activity. Hosting National Marina Day on Lake Lanier will promote the fact that marinas on the lake are open, according to AMI.
“I also hope by bringing the event to Lake Lanier that we’ll be able to show how a marina such as Lazy Days can adapt to overcome adversity such as the one caused by the drought,” said Michael Shanley, chairman of the National Marina Day committee.
Shanley said the marina made improvements and planned events for its customers, despite the hardships related to the drought.
