Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show opens today

The Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show returns to City Dock today and continues through Sunday, featuring nearly 80 new and used sailboats on display in the water and more on land.

Sailing lessons on the new Beneteau First 22, consisting of two-hour onboard classes sponsored by the American Sailing Association and Beneteau USA, are sold out.

Free sailboat rides will be provided by Annapolis Community Boating.

Cruisers University features cruising experts teaching more than 120 hours of elective classes.

The Annapolis Junior Keelboat Regatta will take place at noon on Saturday.

The Spring Sailboat Show also will feature equipment, electronics, clothing and boating accessories at the 100-plus on-land nautical exhibits

Like most people born in 1990, Justin Bennett was on a four-year college track. He and his parents took it for granted that he would attend college before moving on to a steady desk job — until a stint at sailing camp, and later as a counselor, helped Bennett discover his passion for boats.

Momentum from Boat Shows Expected to Continue

Seventy percent of boat dealers who responded to a monthly survey said they had at least “somewhat positive” momentum emerging from winter boat shows, with 38 percent saying momentum was “very strong” or “strong.”
