Boat show roundup


The Maine Boatbuilders Show is set for March 19-21 in Portland, Maine.

The show is an annual gathering of fiberglass and wooden custom boatbuilders on the East Coast. Also exhibiting are numerous manufacturers of boating equipment. Sailboats, powerboats, canoes, kayaks and rowboats will be on display, with the builders there to discuss and sell their work.

The event also includes numerous seminars.

Friday is "NAMS day" (National Association of Marine Surveyors.) NMAS holds a membership meeting in the morning before the show starts and the several talks during the day that count toward continuing education credits for their organization.

Others conducting seminars include the American Boat and Yacht Council, The Landing School, the U.S. Coast Guard and many more.

The 18th annual Spring Boating Expo is set for March 11-14 at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Mich.

In addition to boats, the latest boating engines, motors, accessories, services, clothing and gear will be for sale from more than 100 boating businesses.

"Spring is just around the corner and with its great selection and bargain prices this show is the best place to shop for your boat to assure early spring delivery," show manager Van Snider said in a statement. "In addition to bargain prices and low interest rates, financing can be arranged on the spot."

Boats from 10 feet to 30 feet in length will be on display.

The 18th annual Spring Boating Expo will again host the Discover Boating Center to provide potential first-time buyers with reliable, unbiased, personalized answers to boating questions.
