The St. Petersburg Power & Sailboat Show, set for Dec. 3-6 in downtown St. Petersburg, Fla., will feature many special events for children and adults.

Capt. Don Dingman's free "Hook the Future" kids fishing clinics are open to children from 4 to 16 years old. Anglers who participate in the weekend clinics enjoy free admission with a paying parent or guardian

During the clinics, Dingman, a professional offshore angler who hosts the "Hook the Future" TV show, gives interactive teaching sessions that include casting, selecting tackle, tying knots and fishing ethics.

This year, Dingman is launching the non-profit Hook the Future Foundation to engage children in fishing through education to become responsible anglers and live a fit, healthy lifestyle while becoming stewards of the environment. To raise funds for the foundation, Dingman will offer show-goers a chance to win an EdgeWater 245 with a Yamaha F250 outboard, Float-On trailer, and Garmin electronics package.

Raffle tickets are $20 per donation.

Seminars for adult attendees are geared to every level of sailor and powerboater. Best-selling authors and magazine columnists, marine weather experts and world cruisers are part of this year's seminar program. The full schedule will be posted in early November on the show's Web site.

Seminars so far include "Sailboats for a Serious Ocean," "Cruising with Pets," and "New Technologies - Energy Production and Storage."
