Cruising Club of America hands out sailing honors

The Cruising Club of America celebrated its outstanding sailors of 2013 during the annual awards dinner at the New York Yacht Club in Manhattan.

Commodore Frederic Lhamon presented the Blue Water Medal, Far Horizons Award and Richard S. Nye Trophy at the March 7 event.

Jeanne Socrates was awarded the 2013 Blue Water Medal for her completion of a solo nonstop circumnavigation on her third attempt.

Tom and Dorothy Wadlow received the 2013 Far Horizons Award for 18 years and 75,000 miles of cruising.

Stephen E. Taylor received the 2013 Richard S. Nye Trophy for sharing his “meritorious service and extensive cruising experience” with the club.
