The 56th annual Detroit Boat Show ribbon cutting and Mayor’s Cup presentation will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. on the first day of a nine-day show that continues through Feb. 23.

Detroit Boat Show management and the board of the Michigan Boating Industries Association will present the MBIA Mayor’s Cup to U.S. Rep. Andrea LaFontaine, R-Mich., and Republican state Sen. David Robertson “for their dedication to the recreational boating industry and the passage of Sales Tax on the Difference,” the group announced.

Also being recognized are state Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville and Republican state Sen. Jack Brandenburg.

Also attending will be Cobo Center general manager Thom Connors and Deputy Mayor Isaiah “Ike” McKinnon.

More than 40 new 2014 models will be introduced at the show and there will be more than 100 exhibitors. The Bat Boat will be on display to commemorate the filming of a new movie around Detroit. The show also will feature a live stingray and crab exhibit, a build-a-boat activity center for children and a surfing simulator.
