Florida show opens Friday in Lakeland

The Lakeland Boat Show opens Friday and runs through Sunday at The Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Fla.

New boat models will be on display along with boating accessories and fishing tackle.

The Captain Joe Fishing School will hold hands-on seminars during the show. Topics include rigging lures, tying knots and throwing cast-nets.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 1-2 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 3.

Ages 12 and younger get in free.

On Aug. 3, half of all ticket proceeds will go to SPCA Florida courtesy of Bright House Networks.
