Groups reach settlement on Palm Beach show

The city of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Yachting Promotions Inc. announced this morning that the 27th Annual Palm Beach International Boat Show will go on as planned from March 22-25.

“The city, Yachting Promotions and Show Management have successfully worked together to address issues relating to repair of the area known as the Palm,” they said in a joint statement.

“One of the top 10 boat shows in the nation, this year’s show will feature hundreds of boats, ranging from small watercraft to superyachts over 150 feet, accessories from the world’s leading marine manufacturers, educational activities and fun-filled events for boaters of all ages,” the statement said, adding that the show has a “significant economic impact” on the area.

West Palm Beach officials had threatened to cancel the show, saying $141,500 in damage was caused at the waterfront during the 2010 show.
