LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A specially selected group of exhibitors at the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition & Conference stepped up to present lightning-fast pitches about their products at the Pitch the Press event on Tuesday.

The pitches were intended for the press and for industry buyers, distributors, wholesalers, purchasing agents and manufacturer’s representatives. Each two-minute pitch was designed to best grab the audience’s attention and make the most of a unique opportunity to be heard above the sounds of thousands of products in the IBEX exhibitors’ hall. Each pitch was followed by a one-minute question-and-answer session.

Trade Only Today writers were intrigued by the zip ties that cut themselves; the new portable Yeti coolers with zippers that don’t leak and include a small pocket for a wallet and a cellphone; Mercury Marine’s Active Trim, a self-contained, GPS chip-enabled, self-trimming device; and Malibu’s new Surf Band.

The products were selected by Boating Writers International’s IBEX Innovation Awards judges and industry insiders. Criteria used for the selection included choosing products that have the potential to create positive change in the boating industry; new products that make boaters safer; products that make the boating experience more efficient; products that improve the overall boating experience; products that lower the acquisition cost or operating costs; and products that are the most intriguing and head-turning.

The products pitched include:

• New safety labels by ABYC

• Combo cleat and rod holder by Accon Marine LLC

• Exhaust noise reducer by Centek Industries

• Vibe XE by Garmin

• ISM Intelligent Steering Module by Isotta-IFRA
