IBEX details show lineup

The IBEX industry breakfast will feature keynote speaker Jim Craig on Sept. 19.

The 27th International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference, slated for Sept. 19-21 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla., is offering several networking events this year, including a happy hour and the annual opening night party.

The IBEX industry breakfast will feature keynote speaker Jim Craig on Sept. 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel.

Craig, who is best known as the goalie for the United States hockey team in the “Miracle on Ice" victory at the 1980 Olympics, will share how teamwork principles can lead to business success.

National Marine Manufacturers Association president Thom Dammrich will present the state of the industry address during the breakfast, and trade awards will be given out, including the IBEX Innovation Awards.

"I'm excited about the increase in the number of parties on the schedule, in addition to our own networking events. There's more going on this year than I've seen in a long time," IBEX show director Anne Dunbar said in a statement. "We highly encourage our attendees and exhibitors to visit our events page and make plans to attend the networking opportunities.”

Attendees will be invited to a happy hour in the Beer Garden, located in the Marina and Yard Pavilion, Sept. 19 from 4-6 p.m. Following is an opening night party in the Sail Pavilion and Beer Garden from 6-8 p.m., which will feature drink specials, live entertainment and food trucks.

The American Boat and Yacht Council will host the annual “Coffee and Compliance” networking event on Sept. 20, during which attendees can meet with experts in marine certification and standards to discuss current trends and compliance issues affecting the industry. Exhibitors are invited from 9 to 10 a.m.; attendees may attend from 10 to 11 a.m.

The IBEX Product Pitches in the Tech Talk Theater take place Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. until noon. The presenting exhibitors will pitch their products, selected by industry journalists, for two minutes followed by a one-minute Q&A follow-up for press and buyers. Member of the media and marine industry buyers, as well as distributors, wholesalers, purchasing agents, and manufacturer representatives will benefit from this efficient one-hour opportunity to preview and experience some of the innovative, new offerings on display at IBEX.
