ORLANDO, Fla. — ICAST organizers handed out two dozen Best of Show awards Wednesday night as the world’s largest sportfishing show wrapped up day three of the four-day event at the Orange County Convention Center.
“I hope you had a great day. It was wonderful to see all the big crowds and all the exhibits,” Glenn Hughes, vice president of industry relations for the American Sportfishing Association, told hundreds of attendees at the start of the Chairman’s Industry Awards Reception. “This is the largest ICAST show ever, and thank you very much for being a part of it.”
The winning products were chosen from ICAST’s New Product Showcase, a special display area that featured more than 1,000 new products from exhibitors.
The competition includes awards in 24 product categories and an overall Best of Show award.
Johnson Outdoors won overall Best of Show for its Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor. The company also captured the Best of Show Boating Accessory award for the Ultrex trolling motor and the Best of Show Boat award for its Old Town Predator kayak.
Lew’s Fishing Tackle collected several awards, including best saltwater rod and freshwater reel. St. Croix grabbed two awards, one for freshwater rod and fly fishing rod. Pure Fishing Inc. won for both its saltwater reel and fly reel.
The lifestyle apparel award went to Under Armour, and Yeti Coolers won for fishing accessories. The giftware prize went to Weego for its Jump Starter 44. The Kid's Tackle Best Of Show award went to Steinhauser for its Starter Rod Combos.
