About 3,200 wooden boat owners, restorers and enthusiasts attended the 38th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance, which was held June 18-20 at the Sierra Boat Company in Carnelian Bay on Lake Tahoe's North Shore.

This year's event featured more than 90 restored antique and classic boats and showcased some of the first fiberglass boats ever made in its marque class, Classic Glass.

Miss Lucy, a 22-foot, 6-inch 1930 dart runabout owned by Jun Morris of Bellevue, Wash., took home the trophy for Overall Best of Show as well as the Best Professional Restoration Award and, for the first time in the event's history, the People's Choice Award was earned again by last year's recipient, 10-year-old Andrew Triano of South Lake Tahoe, Nev. for his 12-foot Racing Runabout named Hornet.

"We had a very diverse and exciting display this Father's Day weekend," said Dave Olson, chairman of the Lake Tahoe Concours d'Elegance and president of the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, the event's host organization. "Our chief judge Terri Fiest and his team had their work cut out for them with so many qualified entries; they did an outstanding job."

The marque class for 2011, set for June 17-19, will be Gar Wood - the Gentleman's Runabout.

Julie Wilson was this year's winner of the Buy a Boat and Win contest at the 2010 Toronto International Boat Show, show organizers recently announced.

Anyone who purchased a boat at the show qualified to enter the contest and Wilson qualified when she purchased a Bennington 2010 20SL9 with a Yamaha engine from Hastings Marine in Hastings, Ontario.

She received $10,000 toward the purchase of that boat.

"This is so awesome," said Wilson. "I've always loved boating since I was a little girl, but I've never had the chance to own my own boat. Not only have I bought an amazing boat, but with the help of Skippers Plan, the price is even better than I could have ever dreamed. I can't wait to take it out on Georgian Bay."

The Toronto International Boat Show is owned by Canadian Boat Shows Inc. The 2011 Toronto Boat Show is scheduled for Jan. 8-16 at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place.
