This roundup includes news from Florida's WaterFest 2010, the Drystack Conference, boot Düsseldorf 2011, and the US Sailing Yacht Club Summit.

Boats from around Florida will make their way to Brevard County's Ski Island on Memorial Day, May 31, as BoatFlorida.com launches its second annual WaterFest event.

Designed to promote the recreational, economic and ecological benefits of Florida waterways, WaterFest 2010 comes at the conclusion of Space Coast Boating Month and National Safe Boating Week.

"WaterFest is about family, friends and togetherness with fellow boaters," said BoatFlorida.com founder John Kavaliauskas, in a statement. "This year we've added a raffle as a way to help Big Brothers Big Sisters continue the great work they do for kids. Buying a ticket is an easy way for people to help - and they just might win."

Attendees are encouraged to dress in island-style apparel to fit the luau theme. The event will feature plated barbecue dinners and non-alcoholic beverages for sale, along with live entertainment, island games for adults and children, water volleyball, giveaways and more.

US Sailing has announced the date and venue for the first US Sailing Yacht Club Summit.

The summit will take place April 2-3, 2011, at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago.

Flag officers, general managers and committee chairpersons of yacht clubs and community sailing organizations from around the country are invited to participate.

The two-day summit, moderated by US Sailing president Gary Jobson and a host of industry leaders, features a number of workshops and seminars, and expert panelists, including guest speaker and sailing icon Ted Turner.

"It is essential that our yacht clubs provide excellent service to members and the sailing community at large," Jobson said, in a statement. "The weekend symposium will bring together the best innovative thinking across the country and a wide variety of topics. Any yacht club planning [to redefine] its mission, attract new members, understand how to complete a major renovation, or become relevant in their community will want to participate in this groundbreaking event."
