Krissy Vaughn, bookkeeper of Fay’s Marina Inc. in La Porte, Ind., is the recipient of the 2017 Kevin Lodder Scholarship.
It was awarded Sunday evening during the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas Opening Night Awards Celebration at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando.
“It’s gratifying to award this scholarship to someone who wants to aid in the success of the next generation of a family business,” Jeff Siems, president of the board of the MRAA Educational Foundation, said in a statement. “The workshop is sure to enhance and broaden her accounting skills.”
Vaughn, 45, joined Fay’s Marina in October of 2016. The MRAA said she researched the Total Management 1 course and applied for the scholarship. Current owner Ed Fay took the course in the 1980s.
The scholarship was founded in memory of Kevin Lodder of Lodder’s Marine in Fairfield, Ohio. He worked in the family’s dealership from an early age until his passing.
Vaughn will receive tuition to attend the Spader Total Management 1 Workshop in Sioux Falls, S.D., (a $2,995 value), plus an $800 stipend to offset travel expenses.
