This year's Marine Equipment Trade Show will have its largest number of exhibitors ever, according to organizers.

A total of 1,232 exhibiting companies will be at METS, including 193 first-time exhibitors. The show is scheduled for Nov. 17-19 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

"In these troubled economic times, we were definitely not expecting a record number of exhibitors for METS 2009," senior product manager Irene Dros said in a statement. "We experienced a huge sense of relief when exhibitor commitment reached a healthy level, but as the numbers have steadily built up, our relief has turned to plain delight."

"I think METS 2009 can be seen as a beacon of hope that the marine equipment industry is determined to be proactive and push on through to brighter times," she added.

METS is the world's largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine industry. The show is organized by Amsterdam RAI in association with the International Council of Marine Industry Associations.
