Newport boat show teams with charitable partner

Newport-charity

Newport Exhibition Group, which owns and produces the Newport International Boat Show, is partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Leukemia Cup Regatta as the official charitable partner for the 49 anniversary of the show. LLS will receive complimentary exhibit space at the show and the chance to share information about its mission to cure blood cancer.

“We have worked with LLS in the past and are inspired by their timeless dedication to eradicating cancer and improving the quality of life for patients and their families,” Nancy Piffard, show director of Newport Exhibition Group, said in a statement. “The organization raises awareness and funds through a series of sailing regattas and we are fully committed to assisting them in achieving their goals.”

The Leukemia Cup Regatta is series of sailing events that combines recreational boating with fund-raising for LLS. The 25 annual Rhode Island Leukemia Cup Regatta will be held June 7-8 at the New York Yacht Club in Newport. Sailors can compete in Saturday’s race or attend events like the Friday evening cocktail party or the post-race barbecue. Gary Jobson is the national chairman emeritus of the Leukemia Cup Regatta.

The Newport International Boat Show will take place September 12-15.
