Newport show calls for submissions for awards

Newport Exhibition Group, owners and producers of the Newport International Boat Show, is accepting applications for the 2018 Newport For New Products Awards.

Judged by a team of marine-industry professionals, NFNP winners will be selected for best new powerboat, sailboat and multihull; best new navigation product; and best new product for boat operation, maintenance and safety.

“Manufacturers from around the world know that the Newport International Boat Show is the perfect venue and ideally timed to unveil their latest products to the North American market,” said Nancy Piffard, show director for Newport Exhibition Group in a statement. “With the variety of sailboats, powerboats and marine products on display, many of our attendees look forward to these exciting new debuts. It is one of the highlights that makes our show a success year after year. We are eager to see what new innovations will be on display this year.”

All products accepted for the program will be eligible for the “Green” award and one winner will be chosen for “Best Green Boat” and one for “Best Green Product” based on environmental benefits and features.

Winners will be announced Friday morning, September 14 at the Exhibitor Awards/Press Breakfast. The show runs from September 13-16 along America’s Cup Avenue in Newport, R.I. In addition, attendees present on opening day can vote for their favorite new boat as part of the People’s Choice Award. One voter will be selected randomly to receive a $250 American Express Gift Card.

In its 13 year, NFNP is open to domestic and foreign products launched after April 1 that will make their official boat show debut at the Newport show.
