A highlight of the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show, which wrapped up Sunday, was the announcement of the top new products of the year.

Judged by a panel of industry experts on the opening day of the show, the eighth annual Newport For New Products Awards were announced at a ceremony Friday. Winners were selected on the basis of innovation, value to the consumer, safety and aesthetics.

Show attendees selected the People’s Choice Award winner.

The contest was open to domestic and foreign products launched in the United States after April 1 that made their boat show debut at the Newport show.

“We were extremely impressed by the number and quality of entries for this year’s awards,” Tom Delotto, director of the Newport Exhibition Group, which organizes the show, said in a statement. “This is a new record for the Newport for New Products program, and we are pleased to have these boats and products represent all of the new and exciting introductions at the Newport International Boat Show.”
