The Newport Exhibition Group, owner and producer of the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show, said today that the 2013 show had an 8 percent increase in paid attendance from the previous year.

The 43rd edition of the show, held Sept. 12-15, had many exhibitors reporting strong sales.

“The Newport International Boat Show has always been a good show for us,” Winter Island Yacht Yard CEO Peter Haywood said in a statement. “We definitely noticed an upswing in boat sales. Traffic to our Ranger Tugs display was strong throughout the show; we were busy from before the official opening until after hours.”

Haywood said his team left the show with a number of sales orders and a large number of strong prospects.

Dates for next year’s Newport International Boat Show are Sept. 11-14.
