Newport show seeks entries for new-product awards

The Newport Exhibition Group is accepting applications for the 2016 Newport For New Products Awards.

The Newport Exhibition Group, owner and producer of the Newport International Boat Show, is accepting applications for the 2016 Newport For New Products Awards.

Judged by a team of marine-industry experts, Newport For New Products Awards winners for best new powerboat, sailboat and multihull, best new navigation product, and best new product for boat operation, maintenance, and safety will be announced on Sept. 16 at the Industry Awards/Press Breakfast during the boat show.

The show will be held Sept. 15-18 on the Newport waterfront along America’s Cup Avenue.

Organizers said the Newport For New Products Awards, which is in its 11th season, helps to publicize what’s new and exciting for boaters. The program is open to domestic and foreign products launched after April 1 that will make their official boat show debut at Newport.

Foreign boats and products that have been shown and sold outside the United States are eligible. Industry experts judge the entries on the basis of innovation, value to the consumer, safety and aesthetics.

“Manufacturers from around the world see the Newport International Boat Show as the ideal venue to unveil new products to the North American market,” Newport Exhibition Group show director Nancy Piffard said in a statement.

All submissions for Newport For New Products Awards must be received by June 30. Click here for full instructions and applications.
