Organizers name Newport for New Products nominees

The Newport Exhibition Group, owner and producer of the Newport (R.I.) International Boat Show, announced the nominees for the 2013 Newport for New Products Awards.

Now in their eighth season, the awards were created to help publicize what’s new and interesting for boaters. The program is open to domestic and foreign products that were launched after April 1 and will make their official boat show debut at Newport.

A team of marine-industry experts judges products on innovation, value to the consumer, safety and aesthetics.

This year’s preliminary list includes seven powerboats 29 feet and smaller, 10 powerboats 30 feet and larger, one sailboat 29 feet and smaller, eight sailboats 30 feet and larger and 12 new boating products.

New boat and product applications will continue to be accepted through Sept. 1.
