The Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show is one of the most popular events on the west coast.

The Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show starts April 16 and runs through the 20 at Craneway Pavilion and Marina Bay Yacht Basin in San Francisco.

Organizers have released the seminar schedule for the show. Thursday kicks off with Chuck Hawley and John Taussig presiding over the US Sailing Sanctioned Coastal Safety at Sea Course. Advanced registration is required for the seminar that will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other sessions will run throughout the day.

Friday will start with day one of a two-day course conducted by electrical systems expert Nigel Calder. Understanding and Troubleshooting Boat Electrical Systems will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Advanced registration is also required for the two-day course. Other classes on Thursday will include how to get a captain’s license, choosing between gas and diesel power and preparing to cross the Pacific Ocean. Highlights of Friday’s sessions include understanding the weather, living and working aboard and women’s only sailing courses.

On Sunday, John and Amanda Neal will spend the day covering offshore cruising. This is the final seminar that requires advanced registration. One of the more interesting topics for other Sunday sessions is “Harmony Afloat with your partner in the Small Space of a Boat 24/7.” That one could be worth the price of attendance on its own.
