Revamped Maryland show returns in April

Keeping pace with its completely renovated venue, the 31st annual Bay Bridge Boat Show was revamped and revitalized for the 2013 season. The newest edition of the all-power show includes an expanded lineup of all types of vessels, exciting new programs and activities and a complimentary barbecue blast.

The show will take place April 18-21 at Bay Bridge Marina at the base of the Bay Bridge on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Tickets are $12 for adults, $4 for children ages 7-12 and free for children age 6 and younger. Admission at any time on Opening Day also includes the Bay Bridge BBQ Bash, with free hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by show staff, live music by the band A Classic Case and an amply stocked cash bar.

"This year, the show will feature more than 200 new and brokered powerboats, representing an amazing range of sizes and styles," Paul Jacobs, general manager of United States Yacht Shows, producer of the show, said in a statement. "We will have nearly every type of powerboat imaginable, including center-console fishing boats, express cruisers, trawlers, locally produced bayboats, sportfishing models, pontoon boats and luxury yachts."

The show also will feature the PropTalk Demo Dock for the first time ever, so attendees can "try it before they buy it," Jacobs explained. "There will be as many as two dozen boats available for demo, from small runabouts to a 39-foot Nordic Tug trawler."

Also new for 2013 is the Kids Zone Interactive Learning Center, which will be open all day on April 20 and 21. Educational and highly entertaining, the Kids Zone's lineup of activities includes Phillips Wharf Environmental Center Fish Mobile, Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center Birds of Prey, Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department Life Safety Trailer and the Wilson Parrot Foundation Exotic Bird Rescue, as well as a moon bounce, large slide, face-painting, child safety kits, spin art, crazy hair creations and balloon art.

"Kids Zone turns the boat show into an exciting event for the entire family," show manager Sheila Jones said in a statement. "There will be activities for all ages, and ticket prices make it a very economical family outing."

The Nautical Flea Market and Craft Show also runs throughout the day Saturday and Sunday as part of the Bay Bridge show, as does an antique and classic boat show and a classic car show.
