Short-list named for Metstrade Boat Builder Awards

The Metstrade show and International Boating Industry magazine announced the short-list for the IBI-Metstrade Boat Builder Awards for business achievement.

Of more than 100 entries, 21 companies were short-listed. The winners and special mentions will be announced Nov. 15 in Amsterdam.

The awards competition, now in its third year, is jointly organized by IBI magazine and Metstrade, in association with Raymarine. It recognizes business achievements of individuals and teams across key areas of the global recreational boatbuilding industry.

“We have continued to see growth in the number of entries for the Boat Builder Awards and we are seeing impressive examples of innovation, marketing, training and collaboration throughout the sector,” judging panel chairman and IBI editor Ed Slack said in a statement. “Many entries demonstrate a real focus on addressing the changing social trends and demands of the industry’s customers that we at IBI are constantly monitoring globally."

Between 250 and 300 guests are expected to attend a gala dinner celebration under the dome of the National Maritime Museum.

The short-list is as follows:

Boat Builder International Distributor/Dealer Development (sponsored by Lumishore): Correct Craft, Fairline Yachts

Boat Builder & Equipment Manufacturer Collaborative Solution (sponsored by Ultraflex): Multiplast and Beneteau; Naviop and Ferretti; Next Four Solutions and Buster Boats; Torqeedo and Zodiac

The evening culminates with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented in the previous two years to Paolo Vitelli, founder and chairman of Azimut Benetti, and to Robert Braithwaite, CBE, founder of Sunseeker International. The award is sponsored by Side-Power.

“Working with IBI three years ago we knew it was important to highlight the vital role of boatbuilders within the leisure marine industry and the crucial relationship they have with equipment manufacturers and distributors,” Metstrade maritime manager Irene Dros said.

“Seeing the Boat Builder Awards becoming a reality and established as one of the highlights of the year in the global marine industry calendar is a fulfillment of that vision. We, our headline sponsor Raymarine and our partner IBI very much look forward to celebrating the amazing achievements of the short-listed companies and the people behind those really special projects on Nov. 15 at the National Maritime Museum.
