Shows and Events

This roundup of upcoming shows and events includes news from the South West International Boat Show and the Sarasota Nautical Flea Market and Seafood Festival.

South Shore Harbour Marina once again will play host to the South West International Boat Show, the largest in-water boat show in Texas. It is scheduled for March 22-25 and is endorsed this year by Sail America.

The endorsement provides an opportunity to expand the display of sailboats at the show, which exceed 40 and include the Jeanneau, Beneteau, Lagoon, Catalina, Hunter and Leopard brands, as well as introduce the new Sail America Village, which will have a full range of marine electronics, products and accessories.

Sail America also will offer a comprehensive seminar program at the South Shore Harbour Resort Hotel and host interactive demos and free Discover Sailing sailboat rides.

“We are thrilled to help broaden the scope of sailing and focus on the sailing lifestyle at this popular show,” Sail America executive director Jonathan Banks said in a statement. “It is a great venue and we look forward to partnering with the show producers and the many sail-related exhibitors.”

The Sarasota Nautical Flea Market and Seafood Festival will be held March 31 and April 1 at the Sarasota Fairgrounds in Sarasota, Fla.

The event includes a boat corral area, which will be separate from the nautical flea market area, and is designed for private and dealer new- and used-boat sales. Customers can shop, compare and make a deal directly with the seller. All boats in the corral are for sale.
