Arrangements are under way for spring boat shows to be held April 28-29 at Brewer Greenwich Bay Marina in Warwick, R.I., and Brewer Pilots Point Marina in Westbrook, Conn.

The shows are designed for the used-boat seller and buyer and will be free to the public and its participants.

“The public loved the idea of a free show,” Brewer Yacht Sales vice president and general manager David Pugsley said in a statement. “Boat shows have become expensive and are dominated by new-boat dealers. As part of the Brewer Yacht Yards we are uniquely positioned to offer our customers the ability to display their boats in two of Brewer’s premier locations.”

Owners will be aboard to answer questions, but the vessels will not be operated at the show. Sea trials and surveys will be done after the show, and only when offers are agreed upon.

They are expected to arrive at Jack London Square sometime between April 2 and April 7, weather permitting.

The Clipper 11-12 Race fleet of 10 identical stripped-down 68-foot ocean racing yachts will be on display April 12-15 at the 2012 Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show, which will take place at Jack London Square.

“The Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show is thrilled to host the California stopover of the prestigious Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race,” Sail America executive director and Strictly Sail Pacific producer Jonathan Banks said in a statement. “The 10 race Yachts and 250-plus crew will add a fascinating dimension to the Strictly Sail Pacific Boat Show and will bring the excitement of ocean racing to the city of Oakland.”

The Clipper Race is the world’s longest, at more than 40,000 miles, and is crewed by amateurs from all walks of life. They undergo extensive training before they embark on their challenge.
