This roundup of upcoming shows and events includes news from the Middle Bay Boat Show in Virginia, the Chicago In-Water Boat Show and ANWB Boot Batavia in the Netherlands.

Norview Marina in Deltaville, Va., will host the second annual Middle Bay Boat Show, a land and in-water event that will take place May 5-6.

The show, which is free to attend, is sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Magazine, West Marine, Richmond’s K95 Country and the Virginia Marine Trades Association and will feature boat brands that include Grady-White, Cobia, Parker, Sea Fox, Sea Cat, EdgeWater, Key West, Chaparral, Scout, Carolina Cat and Polar.

In addition, more than 30 exhibitors will showcase everything from marine electronics to custom canvas products and marine fuel polishing services.

This year, the Deltaville Maritime Museum will display Explorer, its fully functional sailing and rowing replica of the shallop that Capt. John Smith used to explore and map the Chesapeake Bay in 1607 and 1608.

“In 2011 we created a smaller, more intimate show experience for buyers and exhibitors here in Deltaville, and everyone seemed to enjoy it,” Norview Marina owner Ernie Asaff said in a statement. “Most exhibitors did very well and asked us to host the show again.”

Last year’s Middle Bay show drew nearly 1,000 visitors.

ANWB announced plans for ANWB Boot Batavia, a new in-water boat show set for Sept. 13-17 in The Netherlands.

The event is expected to attract 500 boats from Dutch yacht builders and international brands. ANWB expects 30,000 visitors.

This new boat show will take place in the Batavia harbor, which was specially created for large-scale yachting events and is in Lelystad on the shores of the IJsselmeer, the largest yachting area in The Netherlands, organizers said.

Lelystad is 35 minutes from Amsterdam.
