The International SeaKeepers Society announced Women in Yachting & Ocean Advocacy, the honorary host committee for the 2012 Bal de la Mer, which is honoring Tara Expeditions founder Agnès Troublé.

The event is being held at 7:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday at the Rooftop Terrace at Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

“We are excited that [Agnès Troublé] is joining our other remarkable female recipients of the SeaKeepers Award, including Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Dr. Sylvia Earle,” International SeaKeepers board member Patty Elkus said in a statement. “She is a perfect example and role model to represent this year’s ‘Women in Yachting/Women in Ocean Advocacy’ theme and celebration.”

YachtWorld, a division of Dominion Marine Media, said today that YachtWorld founder Jessica Muffett is one of 40 women selected to be on the honorary host committee.

Sail America’s Annual Industry Meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. Oct. 5 at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Annapolis, Md.

The breakfast meeting is open to all sailing industry professionals at no charge, according to Sail America.

“Our annual industry breakfast is a great opportunity to gather our members and other professionals in the sailing industry to focus on promoting the health and growth of sailing,” Sail America president Josh Adams said in a statement. “Sail America also hosts its annual industry meeting to offer sailing industry professionals the opportunity to network with each other and hear an update on Sail America’s recent accomplishments and future plans.”

Established in 1990 by members of the U.S. sailing industry, Sail America now has more than 500 members representing all segments of the sailing market.
