The Penobscot Bay Rendezvous in Maine, a new regatta for sail- and power yachts, is set for Aug. 18-21.

Wayfarer Marine and Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding will host the event.

An expected fleet of at least 100 yachts - superyachts, classics and performance racers - will gather Aug. 18 in Rockland Harbor and move to Camden Harbor for the next two nights.

The three-day event for sail and power not only will feature daily races for sailboats and a poker run and photo pursuit event for powerboats, but participants also will have access to both boatyards and will be hosted each night at a different exclusive venue.

"Penobscot Bay is such an incredibly beautiful body of water, with islands, mountains and the most charming coastal towns, and it offers some of the most spectacular sailing and boating. Yacht clubs and boaters from away come here every summer to enjoy this place. Cabot [Lyman, owner of Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding] and I thought, 'Why shouldn't we organize a regatta to highlight the Penobscot Bay experience?' " Wayfarer Marine owner Shane Flynn said in a statement.

An all-inclusive fee of $360 covers all events (three breakfasts, two dinners, a cocktail party and Sunday's award ceremony) and racing for two people. Mooring, dockage and launch service is extra. Registration is open now.

The event is limited to 500 people.
