Shows and Events

This roundup of upcoming shows and events includes news from the Palm Beach (Fla.) International Boat Show, the Fall Jersey Shore Boat Sale & Expo and BRP.

The 26th annual Palm Beach (Fla.) International Boat Show opens today and runs through the weekend, featuring more than $350 million worth of boats, yachts and accessories.

The show also offers an array of interactive marine-related activities:

  • The Blue Wild Dive and Travel Show aims to help people enjoy the ocean safely, whether they're learning to dive or continuing their diving and boating education. The show will feature experts speaking on safe boating, scuba diving, freediving, spearfishing, lobstering, first aid, environmental problems and emergency boat repairs.
  • The International Game Fish Association School of Sportfishing presents "mini-sessions" with some of the area's best captains and professional anglers.
  • Don Dingman, host and founder of "Hook the Future," will host Kids Fishing Clinics for anglers ages 5 to 16.

A revitalized waterfront area complements the yachting lifestyle the boat show brings to West Palm Beach. Updates include shaded areas, water features, a faux beach, pavilions and floating piers.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show is owned and sponsored by the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach and it is managed and produced by Show Management.

The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey added a promotional event for the third annual Fall Jersey Shore Boat Sale & Expo called the Jersey Shore Boat Expo Promo Day.

It will be held May 1 at the Lakewood BlueClaws game against the Savannah Sand Gnats at FirstEnergy Park.

It will feature boats on display and on sale and vendor tables on the concourse.

The Jersey Shore Boat Sale & Expo is held each year at FirstEnergy Park. It focuses on affordability and accessibility for the consumer and exhibitor. The promotional event will offer BlueClaws fans and attendees a preview of the products and opportunities that will be at the Sept. 23-25 show.

"The MTA/NJ is excited about this opportunity to promote the Fall Jersey Shore Boat Sale & Expo, our dealers and their products at a BlueClaws game this spring. Thousands of people at the stadium will get a special opportunity to see some of the great boats that are available and affordable; just in time to get out on the water this summer," association president Rick Traber said in a statement.

Boat dealers interested in obtaining information or exhibiting should contact the MTA/NJ office at (732) 292-1051; e-mail at

From July 10-17, BRP will host the largest event of its history in Montreal, the company announced.

More than 4,000 dealers and distributors from more than 100 countries will visit Montreal and the Eastern Townships to see BRP's latest offerings.

"Although we have been present in many markets outside North America for several years, we started to really focus on international markets in 2005," president and CEO Jose Boisjoli said in a statement.

"Six years later we can be proud of our leading position in North America and of our international expansion; it is time to celebrate and invite our dealers, distributors, employees, suppliers, representatives of the media, as well as the general public, to show them our origins and what fuels our passion," he added.

The Palais des congrès de Montréal (convention center) will become a large showroom where all of the latest models of BRP brands (Ski-Doo, Lynx, Sea-Doo, Evinrude, Rotax and Can-Am) will be on display. Another section will showcase concept vehicles, prototypes and technological innovations that the public has not seen.
