This roundup of shows and events includes news from the Norwalk (Conn.) Boat Show and the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference in Louisville, Ky.

The 2011 Norwalk (Conn.) Boat Show, set for Sept. 22-25, will feature new attractions, as well as hundreds of new boats and a wide selection of marine gear.

New features of the show include:

• Meet Abby Sunderland, who at 16 set sail from California in a quest to become the youngest solo sailor to circumnavigate the globe. Hear about her experience and get an autographed copy of her new book, “Unsinkable: A Young Woman's Courageous Battle on the High Seas,” from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 24 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 25.

• Check out Paddlepalooza! Watch demonstrations of one of the most popular new on-the-water trends — paddle sports. Daily demos include introductions to and advanced techniques of stand-up paddling, which combines surfing and kayaking. And watch yoga instructors show off their best downward-facing dog on the water with SUP Yoga; a demo of the PaddleFit program, an exercise that focuses on core power; and learn new techniques to increase speed and race competitively in the sport of SUP Yoga.

• Hang with the Harris boys, sons of the late Capt. Phil Harris from the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch.”

• Visit the Discover Boating Resource Center, where boaters can take advantage of a variety of free, interactive and educational on-the-water programs to hone their skills.

In addition to free Discover Sailing on-the-water training, the show is the destination for sailors to shop the newest sailboats and must-have accessories; learn the latest from the experts during daily free seminars; and gather to celebrate the end of sailing season and share stories at the Latitudes & Attitudes Cruiser’s Bash from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 24.

Dr. Shrink is bringing its Shrink Wrap University to the International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference in Louisville, Ky., for the first time.

A pre-show program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct.16 at the Kentucky Exposition Center for $85. The standard Shrink Wrap U class costs $500.

Additional workshops and shrink-wrap installation training will be held during the show, which runs Oct.17-19.

“Deciding to bring Shrink Wrap University to Louisville was easy since IBEX had such a great turnout last year,” Dr. Shrink president Mike Stenberg said in a statement. “Shrink Wrap U is designed to help shrink-wrap business owners be successful. It's an exceptional opportunity for anyone who wants formal training or needs to learn how to wrap more efficiently and effectively.”
